Preparing the Trip

Before going to bed, we planned everything for tomorrow meticulously.

We were going to take a psychedelic mushroom. A new experience for me, but I had complete faith in Matt who had been researching this for years now – even embarking on advanced research into cognitive neuroscience and with a focus on altered states of consciousness – from meditation to psychedelics.

Our aim was to relax the boundaries of our own consciousness and then go into nature.

We planned our route, proceedings and timings down to the minute, and down the finest detail. In the same way that we planned a trip to a new destination, we planned this one too – with the intention of following the times and routes as if we checking the times for a train or a shuttle that we wouldn’t want to miss.

We agreed our plan and then went to bed early, allowing ourselves time to rest.

I lay down in my bed and as I lay there, I wasn’t even too sure if I had fallen asleep, but when I checked my clock it was already 3am, so indeed I had slept for a few hours.

At one point in the night, my heart rate felt high, and I was feeling nervous and scared as I lay in the dark on my own. I breathed and concentrated on positive memories. After calming my heart rate back down, I fell asleep again.

I then dreamt of the red tornado.
