There’s a nice documentary about a sushi chef called Jiro who owns a Sushi joint in a metro station subway. It just so happens to have three Michelin stars which, by definition, means you would travel around the world just to go to the restaurant – it’s that good.
At one point in the documentary he says something along the lines of, ‘to make really good sushi, you also have to taste really good sushi.’
I think it’s the same with any agile or lean development. Until you have properly experienced it what agile is, how can you know?
Conversely – and sticking with the theme of sushi – I also once read that most people have never tasted real wasabi because most wasabi is ‘fake’ wasabi. Strangely, when confronted with real wasabi, people now prefer fake agile, sorry, fake wasabi.
